Data on the cannabis market in Europe

with No Comments
In 2022, EU Member States reported 243,000 seizures of cannabis resin totaling 468 tonnes (816 tonnes in 2021) and 234,000 seizures of cannabis herb totaling 265 tonnes (256 tonnes in 2021).
Due to a 52% decrease reported by Spain (from 673 tonnes in 2021 to 325 tonnes in 2022), the total amount of cannabis resin seized in the European Union fell by 43%. This demonstrates the significant influence of our country on these overall statistics.
Likewise, Turkey reported 15,700 seizures of cannabis resin, amounting to 29.3 tonnes, and 57,400 seizures of cannabis herb, amounting to 42.5 tonnes.
Approximately 609,000 offences for cannabis use or possession were reported in the European Union in 2022 (566,000 in 2021), along with 98,000 supply offences (100,000 in 2021).
In 2022, the average THC content of cannabis resin in the European Union was 24.8%, more than double that of cannabis herb, at 10.1%.
Trends show that the average THC content of resin has doubled over the last ten years and continues to rise, whereas the THC content of cannabis herb has remained generally stable for most of that time, making it, by all accounts, the safer consumption option for this substance.
It is worth noting that samples and data for both forms of the drug (herb – resin) can vary considerably, so we will break down below, separately, the data referring to each one.

To conclude, it is important to highlight the indexed trends in retail sales for both types of cannabis: resin and herb, where it can be observed that the quality or psychotic effect (potency) follows an upward trend—more markedly in the case of resin—in contrast with more contained and lower prices in both product lines.
In short, to summarize, more high for less money 😉
